Each year, OCLRE honors a member of our community with the Lori Eiler Award for Excellence in Mock Trial Coaching. The OCLRE board has the unenviable task of selecting the winner from among the many deserving individuals who have been nominated by team members and colleagues. The recipient of the 2020 Eiler Award for Excellence in Mock Trial Coaching is Dr. Chandana Mozumdar of Lake Ridge Academy in North Ridgeville, Ohio. The award will be presented during the Virtual Mock Trial Conference on September 30.
Dr. Mo, as her students affectionately call her, has been with Lake Ridge Academy since 1998. She started the Mock Trial program at the school two years later. As some of her Mock Trial students tell others – “Mock Trial is Lake Ridge’s contact sports.” In addition to running the mock trial program, and serving as Upper School Dean of Students, Dr. Mozumdar teaches AP World History, AP European History, Global and Comparative Politics, and Modern World History. She is beloved by her students and mock trial team members who nominated her for this honor. When asked about her time as a Mock Trial advisor, she said, “It has become the great passion of my life. And I thank OCLRE for bringing me this enjoyment.”
