Deborah DeHaan Scholarship Fund
The Deborah DeHaan Scholarship Fund was established by the OCLRE Board of Trustees to honor and celebrate the life of Deborah DeHaan Sullivan, who served as the center's Executive Director from 1999 until her retirement in 2012. Under her leadership, OCLRE expanded its programming, resources and partnerships.
While she embraced the spirit of competition, Deborah believed strongly and steadfastly that our programs are first and foremost educational and that they are for all students. Deborah’s legacy and her commitment to serving all Ohio students and teachers lives on and continues to impact the organization’s mission, vision and culture. The Fund supports schools in need of financial assistance in order to participate in OCLRE programs. To make a contribution to the fund, please click the button at the bottom of the page or contact Kate Strickland at kstrickland@oclre.org.

Lori Urogdy Eiler Award
The Eiler Award for Mock Trial Coaching Excellence is named in honor of Lori Urogdy Eiler, a retired teacher and former mock trial advisor at Shaw High School in East Cleveland. Every year, mock trial students nominate those who, like Lori, connect with and challenge them to achieve their individual personal best.
Presented annually, the Lori Eiler Award recognizes a Mock Trial teacher, legal advisor, volunteer or administrator whose dedication and selflessness in giving their time, as well as their knowledge and skills, makes a difference in the lives of students. Eligible candidates are those who regularly inspire and motivate teams to outstanding performance, while also modeling civility and holding their students accountable for the same. Candidates demonstrate an ability to connect with team members as individuals, helping them to overcome obstacles to success and leading them to achieve an individual "personal best." Nominations are reviewed and voted on by the Board of Trustees and the award will be presented at the Mock Trial Conference, typically held in September.
